I am honoured to be the Chair for the Office for Environmental Protection with responsibility for establishing this important new environmental body. There is a huge amount of work to do in the coming months and beyond, to build the OEP into a highly effective and respected organisation, ensuring that our environment is not just protected properly but improved and enhanced, as government intends.
OEP will be its people. To be the best it can be, to make the most difference, to deliver to the full, it needs the best people – talented, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and from all backgrounds – to bring OEP to life and deliver all our hopes and ambitions for it.
This is a unique opportunity. If you think you fit the bill, we will be delighted to hear from you.
Dame Glenys Stacey – Chair
This an opportunity to join the first Executive team of the Office for Environmental Protection. We are brand new and we are different. There is no blueprint for how we are to be or how we will work and we have vitally important work to do. It will up to us, together, to decide how we are going to meet the immediate challenge of launching the OEP and then delivering.
What we know is that all of the work we do will be watched closely and indeed we need our stakeholders to pay attention if we are to have impact. We know that we will be small so need to be perfectly formed. We know that we need the most talented people who bring real diversity in every sense. We know that we will need to work together, in collaboration, so we draw on the wide range of skills and experience that our people will need to have.
We are looking for people who will be passionate and committed to protecting and improving our environment. We are looking for people who want to help us build this organisation, people who are agile. People with foresight and insight. People who will be able to see the opportunities for the OEP to make a positive difference and who can act on those opportunities at pace. People who will lead and inspire.
If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you.
